Hi Everyone!

This forum is a place where we can chat about the campaign issues and our activities, get advice and share resources.

The Action Network includes more than 100 volunteers across Canada who are campaigning on women's rights and climate change.

To start to get to know each other, please introduce yourself a bit to the group - why are you involved, what kind of campaigning you've been involved in, where you live, work, study, etc.

Looking forward to getting to know you all more and hearing about how the campaign is rolling in your area!

Hello!

My name is Anna, and I'm the Gender Justice Progam Assistant intern at the Oxfam head office in Ottawa this summer. I'm working with Jennifer to help set up this great network of team leaders and am also doing some work with the gender specialist here at Oxfam.

I've spent some time living in Africa and have had noticed first hand how climate change is affecting women's rights. As weather conditions change, and droughts make it harder to eek out a living from the land, women's already heavy burder is just getting heavier. They have to work harder for the same crop yield, and they have to walk further to get water. These are just a few of the hardships that women have to face.

It is important to recognize the specific correlation between Women's Rights and Climate Change. The more awareness we have about this issue, and the more we spread the word, the closer we can come to making a change.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say! Welcome to the Network!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Siera and I have been involved with Oxfam Canada for the past summer interning in the Toronto office. I have been working on the Summer Outreach events in Toronto with Victoria and Emily, where we have had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most amazing volunteers who care a great deal about Oxfam's work.
Gaining support and raising awarness for the Women's Rights and Climate Change campaign from the public has been a unique experience and I appreciate the advocacy work being done around it.

I am also an upper year student at the University of Toronto and am focusing my research on developmental politics within Africa. I keep involved within the University community and the NGO community through volunteering and engaging which I think is very important to the learning experience.

I hope one day I will get the chance to meet all of you and debate about various NGO related topics.
