D.R.Cong has just come out the wars,but many problems are still there; Between clans, tribes, ethniques,...
and one of the strategies to make sustainable peace is to train young people in the area, show them how you can be in conflict with somebody but you can resolve to internalise it. And this can only be when peole stay together.
that is why Christian Help D.R.Congo, is looking for funds to build this center in Makobola, sud Kivu, in Fizi territory where genocide took place in 1998.
We know that the governement built the monument there, but this is not enough insteat we should seek to lookfor the ways of preventing this in the future.
many of youth in thi area are unemployed,others are uneducated, others do not just have direction. So the society needs people who will empower others to get vision and fly like an eagle. this is the time.
This country is full of resources, so it is potentialy reach, but people are very poor. To me this is lack of vision, direction, mentor, ...
somebody said, "if you want to be different from your parents, you have to act direrently from them" unfortunatly, people are acting the same way.
a lot of Money has come from the west to our country, but things seems to not change. so we should invest in the youth to empower them so that they may become the deliverer of their countries.
Background:
Makobola is a village situated at 19 km on the south of uvira city, and about 42km from Bujumbura internation airport.In this place People experienced very many attrocities during the wars:
In 1998, people were massacred and burred in mass grave. That is why the goverment built a monument their to be a reminder of that.
But for Us Monument is not enough, it should be the center of Peace training, and change of mentality and detraumatisation of people, because of the genocide that took place there. Young people still keep those memories in their minds, to me this is a Bomb that mwy blow any time in the future.
Objectives:
- sustainable peace
- hopeless young people of
makobola given hope again.
-Self relienacy of the
makoboal youth in the future
and all these to see the sustainable peace in Fizi territory.
Milestones:
-YOung people are trained in different areas like canpentry, computer, music skills, enterpreneurship,...
-others are given sponsership to pursue higher education.
-center is build up of 2 blocks for those kids who lost their parents, and one hall for training and detraumatisation.
-after 2 years, the center is self sufficient economically.
Budget:
9 820 $ US
Needs:
stones, brics, sand, sacs of ciment, iron shits, timbers, engenier, buiding tools, Youth coming from the west as missionary to exhange experience with these ones, so that they may get vision and do something for their own.
