Description:
The Gaza Strip is considered one of the most crowded places all over the world. Youth in the Palestinian community, and especially in the Gaza Strip, form around %65 of the population. However, it sharply suffers from lack of recreational and developmental spaces neither for youth, nor other categories of the Palestinian community. What makes things worse is the siege imposed on all aspects of Palestinian life, which made Palestinians live under substandard levels lacking the very basic and fundamental needs and services like food, medicine, electricity and water supplies…
Youth in the Gaza Strip reflects a creative and distinguished case amid such difficulties, hardships and substandard living conditions. Youth in Palestine have continued working on the development of their capacity with all possible and available, and also very limited, means.

Unemployment: Gaza not only suffers from serious and critical unemployment rates, but skyrocketing as well. According to a study conducted by UNRWA, unemployment rate in the Gaza Strip is above %67 of the population and it’s increasing very rapidly.
Pollution: Due to lack of power and electricity, pollution levels is critically increasing as all recycling processes, waste management machines and protection of infrastructure (which is already destroyed) mainly depends on power to operate properly. What adds salt to the wound is the use of cooking oil instead of diesel because of the lack of gasoline, which has made the Gaza Strip a black cloud!

Ambition and Horizon: Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are craving for freedom and to break the siege. They long to move freely… they long to improve their living standards and conditions to reach the minimum living standards as the other youth all over the globe. Then, they will develop and build up their community to a good level in order to facilitate and improve the living conditions of Palestinians.

Education:
Education is Palestine has recently witnessed a sharp decline due to poverty, depression, skyrocketing rates of unemployment, in addition to the weak vocational and professional training of university students.

Culture:
Radicalism and extremism increases by the increase of siege and oppression. This, in fact, is one of the most serious indicators of the future of the Palestinian community as a whole. With all its different shapes, radicalism, whether it is political, social religious or behavioral radicalism, is the escape for all oppressed and depressed people.

Background:
The idea of the initiative was first emerged by a group of active Palestinian youth who are looking forward to activating the role of youth locally and internationally to serve the better interest of youth in Palestine, in addition to support the role of youth on the decision-making levels. When the idea of the initiative was considered, we have put in mind the strength and good reputation that TakingItGlobal enjoys globally. Therefore, we thought all these youth actions can be best carried out under the shade of this globally-recognized organization.
The overall idea of the initiative is conducting five international meetings via video conference targeting five youth groups from the Gaza Strip, each group consists of 20 youth members, and linking them with another five youth groups from five countries, to be named later on.

Objectives:
1. To contribute to end the siege imposed on youth in the Gaza Strip; and giving the imprisoned youth in Gaza hope in getting in touch with people from the outside world;
2. To create and support an Open-minded and flexible approach to accept other cultures that will contribute to the development of experience and personality of Palestinian youth;
3. Transferring successful experiences of Palestinian inspiring youth that is considered of the great challenges that face youth in general;
4. To expose the world to youth issues from a developmental perspective or approach, in an effort to get out of the “temporary solution” phase;
5. To reflect the good civilized image about Palestinian youth that reflects their talents and skills; and
6. To create mid-term and long-term strategic plans to create and reinforce youth groups on the local and international levels, to enable them to have the sense of taking the initiative in the future.
