Description:
Fondo Grande Ahead is a project that links people, ideas and resources to promote the implementation of development strategies in Fondo Grande, a small rural community in the dominican bordier with Haiti, and the populated places around it.
Background:
Fondo Grande is a small poor community located in the southwestern Loma de Cabrera, in the northwest region of the Dominican Republic. Fondo Grande is characterized for its typical culture, natural beauty and, overall, the wish and effort of the inhabitants to achieve the great dream of a best world.
Fondo Grande Ahead tries to develop training projects in which the country people are included, not only to receive information but also to share their ideas, needs and solutions.
Objectives:
General objective:
To improve the quality of life of the Fondo Grande inhabitants, through the implementation of new strategies for a Sustainable Development in the community.
Specific objectives:
--To coordinate agricultural, social, entepreneurial and ecological projects, directed towards a communitarian sustainable development.
--To train people about different topics related to agriculture, environment and rural development, considering the colective interest of the inhabitants of Fondo Grande.
--To foment the research in the social, environmental and economic scope in the community of Fondo Grande and bordering zones..
Needs:
Fondo Grande Ahead is open to receive new ideas and information about experiences in rural development.
As a project that is just growing up from the community, intellectual and economic resources are really needed.
