SUMMARY: Run by Michael Gurstein - Centre for Community Informatics Research, Development and Training (CCIRDT) and Miraj Khaled. This session will review the history of Canada’s involvement in ICT4D including the role of the IDRC, CIDA, Industry Canada and particularly the role of ICT4D practitioners, NGO’s and civil society. It will also present a critical reflection on the current state of Canada’s involvement in ICT4D and discuss a future possible role for Canada and Canadians in this most important area. An opportunity will be provided for several presentations from current or prospective ICT4D activities/practitioners and the prospects for future involvement both through consultancies and other means will be explored. This session will involve using internet video conferencing to connect with colleagues across Canada and internationally.
