Description:
This is a series of public forum in schools and communities in Metro Manila, Philippines among young people to discuss intelligently and openly all issues relating to genetically modified organisms (GMOs) introduction in the Philippines

Background:
The campaign will focus on promoting sustainable agriculture among the youth and among urban consumers in general. Besides the marketing aspect of organic farming and promoting the benefits of sustainable agriculture systems; it will also have focus on Philippine culture and sustainable agriculture with emphasis on the cultural value agriculture practices and systems plays on Philippine society and the challenges of Philippine agriculture today; including globalization, unsustainable agricultural production, modern biotechnology application in agriculture.

Objectives:
To raise the level of awareness of youth in Metro Manila on the issue of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) allowing them to decide for themselves whether to support/accept or reject the introduction of GMOs in the Philippines

To establish linkages with youth and youth organizations and mobilize a critical mass of young people for campaigns against the introduction of GMOs in the Philippines

Milestones:
The campaign will have 4 key components:

1) November 2006 initial forum and launching of the campaign

2) Series of campus/ community exhibit-seminars on sustainable agriculture issues

3) Farm visits and interactive dialogues between urban youth/students and sustainable agriculture farmers and IP communities on sustainable agriculture systems & issues

4) Organization building support and volunteer recruitment and formation to set-up the propose Youth Marketing Support Group on sustainable agriculture
