Those KIDS in Villa Mella needs you. Please get involved, support this project CHILDREN in Villa Mella. For more than 400 years, from the slave era through the present day, Villa Mella has been considered one of the poorest sectors, economically, of all the other regions of the Dominican Republic. The sector has been forgotten, even though it is directly under the eyes of the politicians--today Villa Mella is a northern suburb of the Capital--and even though it is one of the riches sectors, culturally, because of its Afro-Dominican and Afro-Caribbean cultural legacies.

Background:
Villa Mella, or San Felipe de Villa Mella, is a Municipal District in Matías Ramón Mella Province. Villa Mella, in the municipality that Matías Ramón Mella province that is located north of the Isabela River, about 6 miles (or 10 kilometers) to the north of the center of Santo Domingo, and is considered an additional neighborhood of the capital. This sector is considered one of the economically poorest in the Santo Domingo metropolitan area.\r\nMatías Ramón Mella province\r\nTotal population 685,754 \r\nUrban population 401,998 \r\nRural population 283,756

Objectives:
The mission of the Center Cultural Guanin, Inc. in the Dominican Republic is to provide a safe, supportive place where children, youth and every body can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.\r\nObjective: A facility for the boys and girls of Villa Mella who have little access to other resources, where they will have the opportunity to participate in all the different programs of Centro Guanín, Inc. This project is aimed at helping all the families in the sector, families with few economic resources. The Club will have both morning and afternoon sessions:\r\n1) The morning session is from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. In this session, boys and girls who do not attend school in the morning will participate in the programs (they can also participate in after-school programs), so that they are not wandering aimlessly about the streets. They will have the opportunity to participate in all of the Club’s offerings and will also be provided with healthy snacks.\r\n2) The afternoon session from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM is for those children who attend school in the morning.

Budget:
Project Children in Villa Mella, Boys and Girls Club building will have two different levels:rnThe first level will house the administrative offices, classrooms, and other meeting rooms.rnThe second level will house the bedrooms and bathrooms of the volunteers.rnTotal land area will be 3,000 square meters.rnThe total area of the building will be 1,500 square meters.rnTotal USD $ 800,000 for purchase of the land and construction.rnTotal USD $ 100,000 for the purchase of equipment and supplies for the offices, classroom, meeting rooms, volunteer rooms, sports equipment, etc.
