Status: In Progress
Timeline: September 30 07 to September 30 10

Description:
Life is beautiful. But through media’s too much focus on problems, chaos and crisis around the world, its real loveliness fades in the eyes of the present generation. Realities bite indeed but let’s not hold to TELL THE WORLD THERE IS HOPE. Imagine the cascading effects it will bring to the whole community if you commit yourself to show the good side of life by demonstrating what one can do to make a difference. It’s never too late if we act fast and sincerely commit to “do one good thing” for humanity. One act will bring us a long way especially if we aim to create synergy of hope-avatars around the world.

Any interested organization, group of students, educators or concern group of individuals who are willing to bring a smile and demonstrate true meaning of hope, are welcome to participate in collaboration.

You may directly access the project website for uploading the documented outputs at http://linc.hinet.net/apec. Register for free and then proceed to Learning Space and choose the Learning with Friends Portal. There you will find TELL THE WORLD THERE IS HOPE special portal.

Background:
Collaboration will take place by
a. Exchanging of documented “good deeds” thru power point presentation, web page sites, short video clips(due to limited space).
b. Exchanging of comments/feedback and gained insights on the posted outputs.
c. Virtual interaction with involved participants is possible. Please contect cmestoque@yahoo.com to coordinate with the registered participants/teams.

NOTE: Documented output presentation varies depending on the form of community services or any act of kindness/goodness demonstrated. It can be through powerpoint, photostory, video clips, etc. Teachers/Leaders involved choose their own subject/concern, scope of learning competencies, creativity and innovativeness for this project

Objectives:
The proponent aims to:
1. Create civic awareness in conserving the nature and goodness among the individual/students and the community in general;
2. Develop problem solving, decision making, creativity and reflective thinking skills among students/youth at an early age;
3. Use English language as medium of effective communication locally and internationally;
4. Use technology as an educational tool;
5. Create learning bridges with partner schools/organizations globally

Milestones:
Output/s (can be done per objective or one integrated output)

IDENTIFY ISSUE/PROBLEM
In groups or in teams, students/members will identify a problem that exists either within the classroom, school, community or environment. Problems such as improper disposal of wastes on rivers, beaches, etc, poisoned air due to burning of plastics, cigarettes, etc., lack of trees, flower plants, etc., strayed and forsaken domestic animals like dogs and cats, bullied/over shy students/individual, natural disaster victims of flood, typhoons, drug addiction, teenage pregnancy, and other issues which they believe they could participate to its solution.

PLANNING
Each group will brainstorm, discuss and analyze the chosen “issue of concern” and research for possible solutions. Planning will follow for the group’s/team’s solutions in action. It is suggested that Team Leader/Teacher will make time table for the implementation and the documentation of the plan. Each member should be given specific and clear role for the success of the project.
IMPLEMENTATION AND DOCUMENTATION
1. “Good Acts” for humanity varies depending on the identified problem and agreed solutions. Creativity, resourcefulness and innovation are encouraged. Some suggested acts could be Tree Planting, Campaigns, Symposium, Counseling, and Performing Arts Presentation like story telling, puppet show, comic strips, a short play or a poem recital in relating the literature of the community and more.
2. Each group/team will have their documentary pictures (digital or scanned) and/ or videos showing their own community or team actions.

VIRTUAL COLLABORATION
1. Each group/team will exchange output with partner students/learners from other schools (this will be arranged by all the involved Teachers, Organization, Team Leaders).
2. Feedback Giving and Receiving based on the published outputs by:
Step 1: Joining a Virtual Classroom Discussion (to be arranged and announced by the involved teachers, organization, team leaders); and
Step 2: Writing comments, reactions, insights about the partner’s published outputs. Individual posting of members on the comment page is encouraged.

BLOG/REFLECTIVE WRITING

It is believed that reflection is the ultimate tool of true learning. As for this activity, Albert Einstein is quoted on his statement about reflection: “How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people.”

All participants of this project, teacher, student,any individual or leader is requested to refect his/her thoughts in FORUM of the project website at http://linc.hinet.net/apec on three parts of the projects:
1. Pre-planning (the first time you heard about the invitation for this project)
2. Actual Planning and Implementation of the Project
3. Virtual Communication with partner Learners/Members
