This initative is funded by the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, the United Way of Calgary and Area and community stakeholders. It is based on the notion that to create stronger, more resilient communities, we need to meaningful engage young people across the country, especially young people who have traditionally been marginalized.
Thus, YouthScape is working with communities in Halifax, Montreal, Thunder Bay, Saskatoon and Calgary to inplement innovative youth engagement projects that build partnerships, foster change in the way things are done and create stronger communities. The research and learning from these projects will be used to advocate for change across Canada. With this broad networks of citizens and new knowledge and skills for engaging diverse youth and creating change, YouthScape hopes to create the spaces for:
-Broader and deeper dialogue about youth issues,
-Active participation of young people in community decision-making,and
The creation of a nation wide movement of informed and inspire individuals, organizations and communities that are working togehter to create an inclusive - more resilient Canada. Contact us at ysiicrd@uvic.ca to find out more.
