Background:
The "International Student Week in Ilmenau" is taking place every second year since 1993,
so this year there will be the 8th time that we invite students from all over the world.
Through the years the project ISWI got lots of support from the Technische Universität Ilmenau, several sponsors and sustaining members like Prof. emeritus of Computer Science Dr. h.c.mult. Joseph Weizenbaum G.C.M.
(Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA., U.S.A.).
Objectives:
The aim of ISWI is to overcome global differences through personal contacts and mutual understanding. ISWI 2007 should be a meeting platform for young people from different culture areas to get to know each other and discuss their points of view. This further fosters tolerance and understanding of others.
Milestones:
In october we send information material and posters to the universities in nearly every country. Now we are organizing the cultural program and groupworks.
Till today we got lots of acceptances from well-known persons to give a lecture at ISWI 2007. Here are some examples:
- Prof. von Klitzing (Nobel Prize winner)
- Dr. Montenegro (alternative Nobel Prize winner)
- Mr. Hugonnier (OECD Deputy Director for Education)
- Mr. Schechter (author, producer and independent filmmaker)
- Mrs. Kammer(Human Rights Prize of the city Weimar)

We do NOT charge any participation fee. You only have to pay your travel and visa costs.
