Status: Completed
Timeline: June 1 03 to December 5 04

Description:
The IYPS 2004 was the second international gathering of the International Young Professionals Foundation (IYPF).

It was an event for all young professionals who were or wanted to be positive change makers in their local and global community.

The IYPS ran for five days, from the 29th of November 2004, at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.

The IYPS brought together young professionals (25-35 years) from around the world for five days of dialogue, information sharing, skills development and networking towards creating a better world for current and future generations through local and global action.

Delegates considered how their action to achieve Sustainable Livelihoods and the application of Science and Technology could contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

The event was coordinated entirely by young professionals from around the world, who volunteered their time, skills and resources.

Background:
The International Young Professionals Foundation (IYPF) was launched at the first International Young Professionals Summit (IYPS) in 2001.

The IYPF will continue to organise further Summits to inform, inspire and equip young professionals to change their world for good.

Objectives:
The overall goal of IYPS 2004 was to bring together young professionals from around the globe to build the capacity of them as individuals and the IYPF as an organisation to contribute significantly to the creation of a better world for current and future generations.

Convening the event was also about specifically building the capacity of young professionals in various regions to pursue the positive outcomes they want for their people and their continent - and for young professionals globally to understand what action they can take to support the work of their colleagues.
