Description:
Youth Coordination Center (YCC) is one of the multi-service community-based, non-profit, non-political, non-religious, non-governmental organization serving disadvantaged youth and marginalized people. Under this organization a project name “Let’s Change” is being planning to launch which will be a platform for collaboration, cooperation, joint action and collective endeavor between Youth to assist Health issues that includes- sexual health (HIV/AIDS) and behavior change (Hand washing campaign).
Health is wealth and is most important thing of our life. If health is well,everything will be good but if health damages nothing else one can do. We believe that 50% of the disease will be minimized through hand washing practices. Hence, we focus on improvement of health of the people by their healthy practices.
Background:
With an area of 147,181 square kilometres and per capita income of US $ 280, Nepal is considered to be one of the poorest countries of the world. It has a population of about 30 millions. The natural, cultural and religious diversity is spectacular in Nepal. Despite its richness in such diversity, it is one of the least developed countries of the world. YCC has conducted various awareness programs including HIV/AIDS and sanitation. The project will be launched in one of the highly disease prevalence rural area of the country. One of the survey conducted by YCC shows that most of the people in rural areas with the problem of uterine prolapse among women, lack of sanitation and lack of knowledge regarding safe water. This organization will:
-Provide Education, Information and exchanges through newsletter, workshop, seminar and youth camp.
-Provide Medication for suffered mainly for women with uterine prolapse.
-Provide Preventive education for youth on drugs and AIDS.
-Conduct hand washing programs.
Objectives:
1. To increase awareness and knowledge of people on HIV/AIDS.
2. To generate awareness on the importance of handwashing with soap.
3. To gradually inculcate the habit of handwashing with soap among the target groups.
4. Reach 90% of the community people including almost all school children.
