Introduction
Somali Youth Employment Service is an organization of Somali Youth indigenous NGOs that was founded in April 14 2006 by Somali youth intellectuals.
SOYES was formed to take part the social and economic problems of the Somali youth and children. Its objectives are;
o To rehabilitate and educate children of poor-back grounds, especially street children,
o Training and providing professional skills which leads to creation of self employment for the youth.
o Sustaining and promoting peace awareness among the youth and the society at large.
Background:
Background / Problem statement
Lack of central government and the long civil strive in the country since early 90s up to now have destroyed completely, the economic and social infrastructure which served the society needs.
As a result a large number of youth and children had fled, subjected to atmosphere of hard life and abject poverty.
The Somali youth and children who had passed the critical times mentioned above were also used as power wave of the civil war. There was high rate of child soldiers. the youth and children did not receive a conducive environment to get education, social cares and other basic necessities therefore, they resorted to look for their live hood through the process of day to day condition in the country which were , killing, kidnapping, looting and robbing, so to safeguard the future of the current youth and following generations and to reduce poverty ,lack of peace and crimes committed against humanity. Its absolute necessity to care for the youth children who lost their parents in the civil strive and those of poor back grounds
Objectives:
Project description
In this project we intend to rehabilitate and educate the youth and children by giving them social advice, civic and formal education. on the other hand giving them small scale income generating opportunities that they can earn their daily bread by doing so, we believe it will help them to understand the importance and practicality of education at same time instilling the consciousness promoting of pace and stability and avoiding and discouraging human crimes against humanity
Justification of project Urgency
Approximately 85% of Somali youth and children live below the poverty line. Their families earn less then one dollar a day. So it’s difficult for the most Somali families to table the three daily meals of an average standard. Forget about paying school fees for their children.
The current average school fees in the country is 10$per month and SOYES had registered 70 student who includes children and youth who had lost their parents in the civil war and those of poor backgrounds who can’t afford to settle their education fees.
SOYES have prepared a school with teachers and curriculum on voluntary basis, however we regret the lack of extra class room, education materials like books, desks, uniform e.t.c also to crate small scale income generating business by giving them small fund. So that it will cater for their daily bread since they hail from poor backgrounds
Project Objectives
o To provide a basic formal education for the youth and children of poor backgrounds.
o To help them ear their daily beady by creating small scale business.
o To teach the youth and children the importance of education and human right values.
o To train them ( the youth and children) in ways and methods that lead to self sustainability and employment
Milestones:
Project strategy
o The youth and children will be given formal system of basic education in the country (6-3-3)
o The medium instruction is English
o They will be given funds to start small scale businesses which are income evolvement. Which is under a condition that the youth or the child is in school?
Strength of the Implementing Group
SOYES have established currently working school well qualified team of teachers and management personnel who devoted and willing to serve this noble course voluntarily.
Target Group
We are giving our priority to the youth and children who lost their parent in the long civil war and of poor heritage specially the street children, also this currently undergoing child-labor in the streets of the city e.g. the shoe shiners who have the intension and the will power to learn, but unfortunately did not have the funds on meaning to do so.

SOYES management will ever grantee accountability and transparency which is based on good faith and honest system of work.
