Description:
The Vision_18 is a project for young people by young people. We use simple yet effective methods to encourage the youth to help each other and themselves. The project targets disadvantaged urban youth in Nairobi and rural youth in Kenya. We use better placed young people to help those who are not so well off. It is founded on the principle that people are motivated to stive for better only if they KNOW there is something better, and knowledge is power.

How will we achieve our goals that is empowering the youth ?
1. Facilitaing the collection and donation of school stationary and books.
2. A penpal system where club members can communicate and share experiences.
3. Giving talks at schools where we inform them on issues affecting them.
4. Holiday camps where school representatives can attend and learn some skills.

Background:
It was started in October 2004 by four young people who believe that there is something that each one of us can do.

We decided to look for an organisation that was inline with our mission statement because we realised that we would need guidance.

Today, we are affiliated to Dialogue for Development Network (DfDN)

Objectives:
1. To bring hope and knowledge to the lives of people living in seemingly hopeless situations.

2. To foster a culture of giving where the youth learn to help each other.

3. To foster a culture of hard work and encourage self reliance.

4. To help people see you do not need alot to help.

5. To facilitate the spread of information on issues that are of great concern to youth.

Milestones:
1. Have given talks and donated books to 13 urban and rural schools in kenya so far.

2. We have our very own T_shirts available to members of the public.

3. Launched the Project in a Nairobi Hotel on August 13th this year.

4. We are having a camp at Rowallan in Nairobi, Kenya this December from 8th to 12th. It is a girls camp but there will be a peer activity day for both boys and girls on the 11th of December.

Needs:
1. The project needs funding to facilitate transportation of team members; acquire equipment for use at talks; retrive and compile information for use at schools
2. Dedicated team members becuase the project is mostly about enthusiasm.
