Community Scan: this is to examine the enviroment for the project to fine out which kind of Agriculture product will be suitable for the project. it will also give us an insight as to the approach to be used for training the youth.
Training Workshop.This will be a capacity building training workshop for selected youth. the youth will be trained in fields such as:
• Agric Project Management
• Confidence building
• Agric- Business Management
• Initiating & managing community based Agric co-operative
• Funds management
• Technical/Extension Support Services
Background:
Bawku is a community located in the upper east region of Ghana. it is one of the three most poorest communities in Ghana that has been hit with several conflict as a result of land ownership. this has lead to lack of food and open market for food. young people fine it very difficult to provide for themselve the three basic meals in a day. with very fertile land for agriculture development and food cultivation, young people are not encouraged to learn how to produce their own foods. this is due to the facts that, theyouth have low skills or lack the capacity to produce their own food.
Objectives:
BENEFICIARIES
- The beneficiaries, especially in the case of providing employment activities belong to a community and an association in the community.
- ADEP is opened to all unemployed young persons between the ages of 18 to 25 years. This age has been selected considering the legal working age of 18 years designed by the labour standards.
120 youth will benefit from the project.
The planning of this project included the stakeholders, community rulers and the youth organizations in the Bawku community.
Milestones:
1)- Supporting and assisting the development, training and empowerment through the Capacity Enhancement, Needs and Assessments (CENA) approach of the applicants
2)- Equip and empower smallholders’ micro-entrepreneurs, youth to participate in developmental programs and activities
3)- Establish and expand self-employment and micro-enterprise.
