One of the participants of the Dialogue suggested we have a live chat to kick-off the project.
Is anyone interested? E-mail me at dhatcher(at)ysa.org with (1) your preference, yes or no (2) do you use MSN or AOL or something else (3) when is the best time of the day?

Hi Everyone!
It is great to see several people starting to join the dialogue.
This will be an exciting project so check back often to see who joins and where they are from.
For now, check out the discussions and share your voice!

Hi Everyone! Let me introduce myself:
My name is Daniel, call me Dan if you want - that's what my friends do. I have an awesome job; I am the advisor to the Youth Service America National Youth Council - for short, the NYC.
The NYC is a group of young people, just like you - diverse in age and geographic location from across the United States who serve as the advisors to the organization I work for (Youth Service America).
Youth Service America (YSA) is a resource center that is committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people, ages 5-25, to serve locally, nationally, and globally.
Basically, this group of young people helps provide "youth voice" to the everyday decisions of Youth Service America. Four of these youth even sit on the Board of Directors (i.e. they help make major decisions, like voting on the CEO's salary).
The NYC is also in charge of their own projects like managing a grant program to promote youth voice.
As a part of YSA's work promoting youth voice, we want to see young people connecting with other young people. Making friends is fun and we know that if we're stronger as a group than individuals.
We'll that's what this "dialogue" is all about; learning about other people and making friends. We'll talk about topics related to service, civic engagement, and culture.
The topics will be decided by you! If there is something you don't like about the dialogue, SPEAK UP! We'll change it. I want you as a participant to be in charge of this and lead the discussions.
We'll be using TakingItGlobal (this web site) to talk; check it out and see what cool features it has. Post pictures, write messages, start discussions. Most importantly have fun and share your experiences and learn about others'.
Now it is your turn! Tell everyone about yourself.
