MESSAGE À TOUS LES MEMBRES DE TIG DE MONTRÉAL;
En tant que coordinateur de l'engagement des jeunes de Montréal, j'organiserai le samedi 22 mars 2008, qui serait la journée mondiale de l'eau, une table ronde à l'adresse suivante:
Collège de Rosemont, 6400, 16e Avenue, Montréal (Québec) H1X 2S9, AU CARREFOUR (3e étage)
Le forum ouvert sera une occasion formidable d'aborder les questions suivantes:
* Comment impliquer de plus en plus de jeunes dans la région de Montréal ?
* Qu'est-ce que TakingITGlobal peut-elle offrir aux jeunes de Montréal -qu'ils soient francophones ou anglophones- pour les aider à réaliser leurs objectifs ?
* Quelles sont quelques unes des histoires de succès des membres de TIG qui habitent à Montréal ?
* Quels sont les sujets qui passionnent les jeunes de Montréal ?
Par ailleurs, le forum ouvert nous permettra de discuter aussi de l'impact qu'a eu TakingITGlobal (TIG) sur des jeunes au Québec et ailleurs.
Cette discussion est vitale afin de dynamiser l'activité des jeunes de Montréal et de Québec en général, de les sensibiliser de l'impact énorme que peut avoir TakingITGlobal (TIG) sur leur vie et comment TIG peut les aider à concrétiser leurs projets.
BUTS DE CE FORUM OUVERT:
* Augmenter l'activité des membres de TIG qui habitent à Montréal.
* Attirer d'autres membres à la communauté TakingITGlobal.
* Savoir les sujets et thèmes qui passionnent les jeunes et sur lesquels ils aimeraient travailler.
L'ordre des activités sera le suivant:
1- Comment impliquer de plus en plus de jeunes dans la région de Montréal ? (de 10h à 10h30)
2- Qu'est-ce que TakingITGlobal peut-elle offrir aux jeunes de Montréal -qu'ils soient francophones ou anglophones- pour les aider à réaliser leurs objectifs ? (de 10h30 à 11h)
3- Quelles sont quelques unes des histoires de succès des membres de TIG qui habitent à Montréal ? (de 11h à 11h30)
4- Quels sont les sujets qui passionnent les jeunes de Montréal ? (de 11h30 à 12h)
Enfin, de 12h à 12h30, ce sera une période ouverte pour les questions des membres de TIG et des jeunes qui assisteront à ce forum ouvert. Il me ferait plaisir de répondre à leurs différentes questions, je pourrais aussi leur expliquer le "Guide d'action" ou planifier une autre activité s'il n'y a pas de question.

Community Partnership Developments in South Africa! On the 25th of January, I presented YES Canada at the Ikhwezi Wellness Centre's first Executive meeting of 2004. The Executive Directors were very pleased and happy about YES Canada and the prospects of linking Canadian youth through YES Canada to the Ikhwezi Lokusa Wellness Centre.
While on my internship in South Africa, I visited one of the HIV clinics that some CIDA interns have been working at. I must say that there is serious potential for partnering youth in Canada to this cause.
The Ikhwezi Lokusa Wellness Centre is a community owned and operated centre
that manages HIV/AIDS patients. Presently, all work is carried out by
volunteers and medical supplies are donated.
In order to provide this crucial service, through her selfless generosity and
dedication to the cause, Dr. Ngumbela purchased and renovated a house in East
London out of her own pocket. After much relationship-building, Dr. Ngumbela
was able to hand over the facility to a group of committed volunteers assembled
from various HIV/AIDS-related projects from the poorest areas of East London.
She then offered her services as the clinic’s first volunteer medical
practitioner. Today, the centre is run by volunteers seven days a week, with
the doctor presiding every Wednesday and Sunday. The clinic is currently filling its service capacity of over 100 patients, with demand growing daily. Any medications, supplements, and counseling services that the clinic is able to provide are supplied through the generosity of the volunteers. Aside from the doctor, none of the volunteers are employed. Recently joined are the CIDA interns until the end of April 2004.
The potential of the Ikhwezi Lokusa Wellness Centre is so great that, I myself (after seeing it once and hearing awesome stories), and especially our 2 CIDA's believe that we can connect youth to this initiative. (Whether its getting a school group or the Girl Guides to fundraise for wheelchairs or whatever their needs are). The achievements of Ikhwezi Lokusa are remarkable in the face of such limited resources. In order to fulfill its potential, the needs as identified by CIDA interns: resources as varied as medicinal and medical supplies, fortified foods and immune boosters, training services, wheelchairs, office supplies, monetary donations or any other offerings are welcome and necessary.
After an introduction to the clinic, I thought that it would be a great idea to
use this clinic as a pilot for my newly devised Canada Connect 5-phased approach to the YES Canada "Adopt a Project". With the use of my model and our YES Canada support, Canadian youth can truly support this great cause.
