The UN's World Programme of Action for Youth
November 29, 2004 - 10:44 AM

Hello,

My name is Samira Afzali and I am working with the Global Youth Action Network on the UN's 2005 General Assembly Meeting that will include an evaluation of the World Programme of Action for Youth that was adopted 10 years ago by many countries.

I am asking the Iran YES team to send me their responses to a few questions I have helped design on questions on the national actions taken in the priority areas for youth. I would specifically like to know how Iran's national youth policy is on employment and what commitments have been made since Iran joined YES.

If you have any questions please contact me at samira@youthlink.org. The deadline for submission is December 13, 2004. Also, send your responses to my email address.

kheili motchaker,

Samira

-------------------------Questions------------------------
Area 2: Employment

Target YEN countries to answer this area: Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Namibia, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Mali, Rwanda

How has the government prepared young people for the globalizing labor market?

Are there government programs that currently exist to promote youth employment? What types of government initiatives/incentive exist to protect work for young people in rural areas?

As part of its youth employment efforts, how does the government target young women, young people with disabilities, youth returning from military service, migrant youth, refugee youth, displaced persons, street children and indigenous youth?

How are youth organizations and young people themselves involved in the planning and implementation of youth employment programs?

What types of voluntary service programs for youth exist? Are they government or NGO managed? Are these programs provided as alternatives to military service and/or considered part of national education?

Going back to the question above, how are youth and/or youth organizations involved in the design, implementation or evaluation of such programs?
