We are presently consolidating the structures of the YES campaign in Malawi. We are able to meet as members but access to the internet to share the proceedings is what has been limiting the many people to share their experineces that iswhy it even takes time to come back with update. If you open the concept documents it tells you what will happen in the first year. We are trying to bring in the issue of youth employment toits highest levels and gather political and the private sector support which is slo in resposne. However very soon, we should be able to hold the national conference and develop a clear action plan. So many institutions are responding now.

The Speaker of Malawi's Parliament Right Honourable Sam Mpasu is the first Malawi Campaign CO-Chiar for the Youth Employment Network. Honnourable Mpasu is the head of the legislature, but has for the past few years been an active supporter of Youth development programmmes. He is currently the only Speaker in the British Commonwealth group to host Childrens parliament in the chambers. You can get him on Parliament@malawi.net. We believe we are on the right course.

Nominations for the National Advisory Team, the Steering team and sub-committeees are out. They will be posted end this week for all members of the Country Network to Comment. One can also contact the National Youth Council, Deputy Director Mr. Warren for the national startegy implementaion meeting.

Check out the Malawi YES CONCEPT DOCUMENT. It is now out. Any criticism and everything is welcome on how itsound whether too ambitious or not and whether you can support it or not. Just write to yes2002malawi@yahoo.co.uk or call Coordinator Kondwani Munthali at Malawi Broadcasting Corporation. Check for a press release in all the media house on Wednsday outlining the concept.
