Ukang Ajit Eke VOTE by Emem Asikpo Andrew on www.free2runonline.com
I see you the weeping mother
of children abducted, brutalised and murdered
anguished and hopeless for life wasted
mumbling and lamenting in your helplessness
I see you the young man
struggling for years to find a job
to make ends meet, to start your family
to prove your mettle, to be a man
I see you the youth
opening your eyes to reality
of the cruelty of the world
and wondering if there is any point in trying so hard
Ntoeka mukit ke enyin esit me
for I am you and you are me
your pain is mine and your injury hurts me
Idara aya di ke usiere
We have a voice and let no one tell us any different
Our vote is our voice and we will use it
walk past the army tanks, circumvent the police road blocks
cover your heads against the rain and go to the polls
They seek to divide us with age old hatred
how can they turn me against the breasts of my annang wife
how can anyone seperate me from the strong bosom of my Ibibio man?
It is not about my tribe, it is about those who use their power to silence me.
But I have a voice and I will speak
I will go to the polls and speak the voice of God.
I will vote my conscience and make sure my vote counts
I have found my voice and I will never again be silenced.

Voters registration closes on the 5th of Feb. We assume you have all registered
and mobilized others to do so. If not please do so at once.
After registering what next? We choose which candidates we vote for.
Introducing Vote4Jobs.
The YES Nigeria Campaign is advocating for youth employment as a major
consideration for voting in Nigeria April Elections.
Lets tell our politicians... dont tell us you will create jobs, tell us HOW! Thier answers should guide our voting decisions.
We shall share a bi weekly newsletter and mobilization strategies. Please feel free to contribute.
Youth employment is a cross cutting issue which is linked to infrastructure,
education, health, peace and security, electricity, food security etc. Lets make
it the 2011 election agenda!

In 2009 YES Nigeria held small planning meetings to identify initiatives, partners, funders and stakeholders for the Rework the World project culmination in the 5th Global YES Summit. Potential partners where identified and research for potential rework projects of green initiatives started. To increase chances of attracting funding and partners, YES Nigeria Rework project focuses on Land (also renewable energy) thus aligning with one of Nigeria’s post Copenhagen Climate Summit primary positions; aforestation. One project, The Farmers Guide Initiative, a self supporting organic farming scheme was disseminated online during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2009 for feedback and publicity.
The Rework workshop held on the 15th of February 2010 at the Hilton Abuja, with representatives of the Ministry of Youth Development, Ministry of Environment (Special Climate Change Unit), News Agency of Nigeria, Coalitions 4 Change (DFID), ICEED, JCI, youth and YES members with presentations by two potential Rework the World Nigeria innovators, Mr Okoi Ononwen, the coordinator Farmers Guide Initiative (FGI) and Mr. Emeka, SFK Coconut Nigeria Limited. Barriers to scale and gaps were identified to strengthen project design and narrow selection criteria for new projects. Participants agreed to identify 5 more projects in their networks for screening within the next 2 weeks. A green jobs fair is also in planning.
On the 16th of February 2010 YES Nigeria was appointed to the Green Jobs Terms of Reference drafting committee at the Ministry of Environment Post COP15 meeting in Abuja.
