Increasing youth employability through ICT trainings.
For exactly 6 months, until June 2006, computer skills courses for young people from the area of South Serbia were implemented within Youth center which was set-up in the town of Leskovac. This Center was established in November 2005 by joint efforts of People’s Parliament (non-governmental organization leading the YES campaign in Serbia) and YES Serbia country network.
Almost 250 young people out of more than 600 who applied for some of these courses have learned basic computer skills and acquired some more advanced skills like web design and graphics design. According to the statement from National employment services representative who participated in closing ceremony "knowledge of at least basic computer skills represent one of the main prerogatives for young people that they need to fulfill in order to become more employable and find jobs more easily and efficiently".
Certificates which young people obtained at the end of this education programme were officially recognized by National employment services, main governmental organization in-charge of employment issues.
Moreover, young people had the opportunity to, besides learning computer skills, be educated and informed on youth employment issues and more than 100 of them participated in a series of youth employment workshops that were organized during April, May and June 2006.
All of the activities organized within Youth center organized within YES CAMPAIGN 2002-2012. More info on Youth center can be found at www.omladinski-centar.org.
