All over the Philippines, thousand of young people are actively involved in the movement for social and environmental justice. Thousands of groups and organizations are tackling the issues of our time but they are too often disconnected. The Voice of the Youth Network is working is to orchestrate their efforts by sharing information, targeting resources and fostering intergenerational partnership.
The Voice of the Youth Network is a collaboration of youth organizations in all 78 provinces in the Philippines working to maximize the impact of young people working to make a difference. It is an incubator of national partnerships that creates opportunities for young people to influences local decision-making bodies. It provides networks, tools, resources and recognition to youth for taking positive social action to improve our communities and our country.
The Voice of the Youth Network believes that the Filipino Youth shall cease from being mere expectators and will become active partners in Nation Building equip with intellectual tools and knowledge.
With such reasons, the Voice of the Youth Network of Quirino Province is organizing the Diffun Young Leaders Summit 2003 aiming to empower the young people of Diffun, Quirino, Philippines
Objectives:
QYLS 2003 provides a venue of discussion and debate about issues confronting youth leaders and actively sought to bring about change of those issues. The focus on action is the main feature of the QYLS 2003 as an empowering, participating and sustainable youth program.
Upon returning home the 100 young leaders representing different youth organization, will use their skills to undertake collective action plans, build and consolidate supportive networks establish organizational youth symposiums and inform our local communities, government, private sector, civil societies and other significant local and national bodies of the outcome of the QYLS2003.
To create a forum where young leaders, thinkers and advocates can meet, establish a Local, National, and International network to complement existing youth networks and act as a catalyst for increased participation of young people and consideration of their issues in policy decisions.
To formulate collective action plans (CAP) during QYLS 2003 to enable youth leaders participants to support our local agencies and implement appropriate change in our communities.
To exchange best practices between youth participants and the organizations they make work with.
To enhance individual youth participants skill, knowledge and confidence to help realize our potential and to assist them in our pursuit of positive social change.
To consolidate network providing information, access and support to local initiatives.
To attract the attention of the media both in Quirino and National youth-related issues.
To support and endorse conventions and initiatives that will empower youth leader around Quirino, Philippines and the world.
