Description:
TakingITGlobal’s Aboriginal Connections Canada is a web-based platform for ideas and expression. Recognizing the unique culture of Aboriginal youth in Canada TakingITGlobal created the Aboriginal Connections Canada page, which includes an interactive treaty map, Aboriginal Canada statistics, Aboriginal member stories and access to a monthly Aboriginal Connections newsletter. Aboriginal Connections main objectives include empowering and connecting Aboriginal youth across Canada; promoting youth-led projects; collaborating and capacity building in Aboriginal communities; and creating a resource of opportunities for Aboriginal youth within TakingITGlobal.
This project page is dedicated to the communication of Aboriginal youth in Canada. It is supported by the Creating Local Connections Canada project and the Aboriginal Team. The Aboriginal Team is dedicated to bringing visibility to Aboriginal youth, Inuit, Metis and First Nation, in Canada within the TakingItGlobal network. This space will serve as a place to share our thoughts, projects, workshops, work and documents with Aboriginal youth and Aboriginal Youth Organizations in Canada and abroad.
Creating Local Connections Canada (CLC Canada) is an integrated three-year program (2006-2009) of TakingITGlobal with a goal of inspiring, informing, and involving youth as engaged participants in Canadian society through: awareness and access, collaboration and communication, and capacity building initiatives. CLC Canada is a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting and supporting youth participation in Canada.
The goals of the CLC Canada program are:
• To raise awareness and provide access to youth opportunities and resources
• To connect and encourage collaboration between youth/youth initiatives
• To strengthen the capacity of youth/youth initiatives in Canada
CLC offers workshops on:
1. Climate Change
2. Millenium Development Goals
3. Change That Clicks!
4. Right to be Heard
5. HIV/AIDS
The project is implemented in partnership with the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation.
Liaisons locales Canada est un programme intégré de trois ans dont l’objectif est de promouvoir et d'appuyer la participation des jeunes canadiens. Les objectifs du programme sont:
• Accroître la prise de conscience des jeunes et leur offrir un accès à des opportunités et à des ressources pertinentes;
• Aider les jeunes à se mettre en réseau et encourager la collaboration entre eux ou entre les initiatives jeunesse;
• Renforcer les capacités des jeunes et des initiatives mises en oeuvre par les jeunes;
LLC offre cinq ateliers principaux:
1. Le changement climatique
2. Les objectifs du millénaire pour le développement
3. Avant Clics!
4. Le droit des enfants
5. SIDA/VIH
Le programme est mis en oeuvre en partenariat avec la Fondation de la famille J.W. McConnell et informé par le projet Cross-Canada Mapping of Youth-led and Highly Youth-engaged Initiatives.
