ADVOCACY FOR THE YOUNG IN CRISIS
"CAMPAIGN FOR BETTER SALONE"
YOUR VOTE AND PRAYER CAN MAKE ADIFFERENCE IN SIERRA LEONE.

BACKGROUND

Advocacy for the Young in Crisis (AdYiC) is a non-political and non-governmental organization of Sierra Leonean youth volunteers
Established in 2004, the organization has its head quarters in Freetown and preoccupied with the education and sensitization of young people on critical issues to which they are vulnerable: Such crises as violence, human trafficking, rape, HIV/Aids, prostitution, drug addiction, human right violation, etc.

In fact, they have unavoidable become topical issues, taking prominence in many seminars, conference and symposia at both local and international levels. Today, many people are dying and more are being admitted to hospital due to HIV / AIDS and conflicts in many parts of the world. Many girls are raped and more people trafficked by their fellow men. There are more in mental homes and remand homes because of juvenile delinquencies.

It could be observed that over sixty percent of victims of the above circumstances are young people; and those being victims can be ascribed to immaturity and poverty with depression and despondency. Therefore many have resorted to prostitution, raping, gambling, drug abuse, armed robbery, hooliganism, vandalism and other vices. .

However, with the rapid increase in crises nowadays, there is every need for active participation in the elimination process, thereby complimenting every effort being made by local and international organizations not only in that vein but also in conflict prevention, conflict resolution and peace-building.

ADYIC is therefore borne with this view in mind that pro-active engagement with every commitment and dedication in similar direction will ineluctably yield a positive dividend for the glory of the target group.

Since the establishment of this organization in 2004, we have successfully undertaken the following activities for various beneficiaries at various locations: distribution of eye-glass to Lumley community, Services Secondary School, Milton Margai College of Education, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and children's Affairs, SAM KAM Institute and Koya village Community in collaboration with Unite for sight from the USA. Youth campaign/rally on HIV/AID. We have participated in international programmes like the movie competition held by Young Film Maker in the United Kingdom where we submitted a film sensitizing about "The Girl child Education", which was chosen to be one of the best among all movies submitted for the competition. We also participate annually in the global youth service day celebration organized by Global Youth Network Action and Taking it Global USA and Canada.

As part of it goal of advocacy the organization has deem fit to undertake a campaign activity that will gear toward the successful conduction of the forthcoming election.
