The first international conference was held in August 2002 with 25 local youth and 25 international youth in attendance. It was a great eye-openning experience for most of the young people who participanted. The program draw country action plan for each of the countries that were represented and most are still being implemented in various countries.The second internationa conference was held at the University of Ghana in the premises of Volta Hall.It was attended by 60 young persons from Nepal, Pakistan, India, Irsael, US, Uk, Nigeria, Benin, France, Togo among others. Reports were presented by participants on activities of their home organizations and all were harminised into the Apeadu Youth/Children of the Earth Peace Building project. Currenting preparations are underway for the 2004 conference which promises to be more exciting for all participants. So far the venue of the programs still remains Ghana because the it also serves as a project in memory of KK Apeadu, a Ghanaian UN diplomat who died in a plane crush whilst working for UN peace missions in East Africa. Nana Osei Boakye Yaidom is th founder of the peace Center that host these programs,. She is the wife of the late UN diplomat and chief of her villege in the Eastern region of Ghana,co-directing the Program are Dr.Nina Mayerhof, Audrey Kitigawa, Advisor in the office of the UN Secretary General.Dr.Harriett Nettles is the spirit of the progams, she spends time to outline and factor every participants presentation and topics into the seminars and symposuim sessions of the conferences.
