Description:
The camp is scheduled for June 2nd – 5th 2006 and will focus on four (4) main areas
namely the importance of participation & volunteering, gift giving, personal
development and HIV/AIDS/sex education.

The camp will provide opportunities for students of the Cayon High School of a lower
socio-economic status to discover their true being and self-worth.

The implementation of a camp of this nature is being spearheaded by the Ambassadors of Cayon High (past students) ably guided by the motto 'With us a new chapter begin' and is geared toward providing varied opportunities for students of the Cayon High School of a lower socio-economic status to discover their true being and self-worth.

Background:
The organization has solicited the support of the Ministry of Community and Social
Development through the Community Officer Mr. Terry Morris and will also be
collaborating with the Health Promotion Unit and the Department of Youth.
The venue of the camp is the Old Road Community Center which has adequate space for
the hosting of the event.

Objectives:
- To provide an opportunity for participants to experience camp life.

- To share and gain knowledge with their peers on current issues that directly affect their way of life.

- To be Ambassadors for their class and school in general.

- To have fun in a learning environment.

- To teach youth the importance of a quality education, community building and the value of volunteering.

Budget:
US$3500

Needs:
- Participants will be selected by the Guidance Counseling Department of Cayon High. The selection process is expected to result in 2 students from each class which would give a total of (50) fifty participants.

- Conduct training sessions in career development, volunteering, HIV/AIDS, and lifeskills development;

- Ensure that each participant makes a commitment to a volunteer project to be carried out in the 4 months following the training sessions; - Organize a short follow-up meeting 4 months after the training sessions to share information on the volunteer activities conducted;

- Evaluate the impact of the project by
(a) conducting a questionnaire/survey before the start of the training sessions and repeating it at the end of the project and analysing the results, and
(b) analysing the number and nature of the volunteer projects carried out;

- Undertake publicity and promotional activities to include newspapers, radio and television;

- Provide photographs and at least 60 minutes un-edited video footage of the various events and activities.
