Description:
We're working to create a coalition of well-known UK charities and non-governmental organizations involving young people to share common ideas and achievements, as well as to campaign for greater opportunities for youth participation.
Background:
The 'Circle of Influence' is a working name for the project, which grew out of an event organized by the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) in Autumn 2005. This event brought together a number of influential figures from government, business and the media for a series of discussions with young representatives of the UKYP and 6 other UK-based non-governmental organizations.
Objectives:
Discussion is ongoing, although provisionally the project will exist to:
-Act as a meeting point for the organizations involved to share ideas, methods and, where practicable, resources related to their work with young people.
-Work together to promote the issue of youth participation and for the empowerment of young people to act on the issues which matter to them, whether at a local, national or global level.
