Corporations and the new social trend

Hey everyone, when I went to the Youth Action Network's Open House someone brought up a really interesting point.
The newest social trend is social consciousness and spirituality. Corporations are taking "activism" and putting their spin in it.
Do you think:
A) That this is good because it creates more awareness for people?
B) The information is superficial and does not examine the issues properly and leads to a lot of misrepresentation.
