Hey everyone!
As I'm positive you all know by you (considering the number of emails I've sent out on the subject), I've been busy the past couple of weeks helping Kimia and Mai with the reporting process.
It's wonderful to have Mai back =)
I've learned that reporting is a pretty difficult process if it's not ongoing and a detailed database isn't maintained. Emails get lost, and it's too bad that we didn't all upload our monthly reports (and we didn't all always necessarily even fill them in) for the months. Keeping records and getting feedback reports and stuff is just a really important way to actually prove that we did what we did, and that we succeeded at it.
I hope everybody else is doing well, as our term comes to and end.. Good luck with exams! I'm still at York going through midterms. Grr!
hello everyone,
hope all is well.
so last week i ran part 2 of a project development workshop for youth participants at a City of Vancouver youth program. it was interesting to see some of the projects that the youth had come up with. though they didn't have to really implement them in the future, there were some groups who really wanted to make their projects a reality. one group for example wanted to not use Styrofoam (sorry if its spelled wrong) in their school cafeteria anymore and wanted to therefore use reuseable trays instead, and install a dishwasher. pretty interesting! anyways i provided them with my contact and let them know to contact me if needed. also encouraged them to use tig project page.
for the remainder of the month and i guess our contracts for tig which are ending in 15 days, i don't really have any other events or workshops planned. i think the focus will be on getting in information that is needed to the main office for clc publication, etc, etc. and also wrapping things up on this end.
it seems like just yesterday we were all in toronto for training... time flies!
for those in exam mode and for those not, best wishes.
tosh
Hey guys!
how is everyone doing?
I hope everyone had a long weekend like me, and got to relax!!
Throughout march, I worked my bum off on establishing CTC, and I still worked hard at preparing for GYSD (which after all this is next friday, i can't believe it!)
I went around to some schools presenting for GYSD and helping them, and right now I'm in the process of getting a local middle school completely prepared for GYSD. It's really cool to get middle school kids involved, because they learn to be more independent with their community service, so when they enter high school they'll be fully prepared.
Hope you are all doing well!
Meg
Hello everyone,
I hope all is well with you, your families, friends and colleagues.
How is everything going? I can't fully believe its April. Time flies. How is the weather in your part of the country? Today is a beautiful day in Vancouver. I am actually outside on the laptop writing this.
Anyways, two things I want to quickly blog about. The first is that the City of Vancouver Youth program has been holding sessions with a group of youth over the last number of weeks and TIG was invited to two sessions to work with the kids on project development. The first session was last week and it went really well. I introduced our organization, showed the CBC video and then talked about a few stages of project development and then got the kids to work on those stages to a certain degree. The second session is this thursday and I hope to finish working on project development with them. Whats really interesting is that if they want the specific project they are working on may turn into a real project later on. Apparently a group from last year went this route - though I don't know if they fully implemented the project or not.
The second thing I want to quickly talk about is that I was able to talk about TIG at an Aboriginal based event yesterday here in Vancouver to a group of people. Kimia sent me a presentation Jennifer had done and I slightly modifed it and presented to the group here. I had planned to show the CBC video but due to technical difficulties we had to go with out it. Sometimes we have plans and they don't work out! Its ok though.
Anyways, thats it from my end.
Take care,
Tosh
