I just met with DECA U of T and the current president is psyched about out tools. HOWEVER, their elections are right around the corner and he was hesitant to start a project page when the new president might not want to use it. I'm trying to schedule a meeting with the the present and future top dawgs of DECA U of T by the end of this month.

The current president said that he would love to partner with CLC and share business resources they have developed like networking tip sheets and case studies - that we can use in workshops.

So I am looking forward to this meeting. I think their partnership will be really great for CLC.

Ok - so just an update on what has been going on.

Mai and I went to the first Change that Clicks meeting with the Boys and Girls Club in TO. I think it went well in that the program coordinators seemed really interested in implementing the program for the kids. However, they did not seem as interested in the program for themselves. I know that CLC is about engaging youth but perhaps it is worth think about how to engage adults as well. In my logic, if there is an enthused adult, they will in turn imbue the youth around them with enthusiasm. The plan is to do the program before the summer sets in. When we are there, one of the youth teachers from the club will be present to learn how to run the program. Therefore, the program will become a sustainable part of their all round program - and it will hopefully expand.

I have also spent a lot of time preparing for the media meeting on Friday. I am creating a media kit that all CLCers can utilize when they have an event. I am also creating a power point presentation on how to write a news story.
On the flipside, I am also working on a media workshop - to teach youth how to harness the power of the media. This has been taking a while to develop but hopefully, I can present it at our CLC next team meeting.

Tomorrow I am meeting with DECA U of T. They are interested in putting up a project page and also finding out how TIG can help them with their work. They have a facebook group and use it to promote their events - so I feel that they will be impressed with our tools.

On Friday I am meeting with Monique Woolnough from the SYC to put up their project page. This should be great - I am especially excited to get this going.

I have a tentative date for a meeting set on Monday to meet with a representative from Juxtaposition to set up a project page and partner with TIG.

One more note and perhaps the most important - I would like to welcome Muneeb to the Toronto team. He will be working to with me to put the high school project into action and also to secure funds for CLC year 3. WELCOME!

Feb 19th, 2008 - 15:07:54 | Yassir EL OUARZADI

I read the whole Trip Report written by Mai Ngo. Really interesting to see that the other members of CLC are enjoying their job and working towards change.
Good job everyone ! Hope your activities this month are exciting !

About my engagement with CLC, I am going to co-facilitate a climate change workshop in Maisonneuve Cegep (Cégep de Maisonneuve) probably next week (next Thursday or Friday), and I will seize the opportunity to promote TakingITGlobal to Francophone students and Francophone youth in Quebec. So this will help to develop francophone membership as an offline-engagement. Next Friday, I am also going to Alternatives again to make sure that they are promoting TakingITGlobal in their website as well as in their networks.

Feb 18th, 2008 - 14:19:26 | Kyle Simunovic

I'm having an amazing time starting to work with some of the Ontario partners to claim and use their organizational profiles and project pages. It’s an exciting journey that I began to embark on last week. I'm very excited about the potential this poses for Canadian Youth, the CLC program and our project partners.

More to come...

Kyle
