EMAIL from UNICEF:
UNICEF is providing support for the awarding of this year's Alexander Bodini Charitable Foundation awards, which will honour a child-led organization that has successfully and meaningfully contributed to creating a world fit for children.
The 2007 award will comprise two grants of US$20,000 each to outstanding child-led organizations. The awards will be presented at an event to be held at the Racquet Club in New York City on 1 February 2008 in the presence of the Minister for Foreign and Political Affairs and Economic Planning of the Republic of San Marino (with functions of Prime Minister). Brief audio/visual presentations during the event will highlight the work and achievements of this year's award recipient organizations, accompanied by messages from the children who lead the organizations themselves.
The event will also feature an update from the organization that won the award in 2006 – 'My Neighbours and Me', an adolescent-run group which provides a safe meeting place and an organized programme of dance, music, drama and sport for disadvantaged and vulnerable children living in a poor area of Belize City.
In 2007 the two UNICEF offices from where the winning organizations are selected will also receive US$10,000 each from the Alexander Bodini Charitable Foundation towards their work, especially to promote children's participation.
Please find attached the nomination criteria and deadline.
