Description:
To collect dry waste (plastic and paper) in our own homes and hand them over once a week to a ragpicker who you have previously informed to come and colect thee wste at your homes each week or at any date.
Background:
The amount of waste each family generates each week is enourmous. In India, ragickers sort through garbage and rubbish strewn on roads or in bins to collect plastic/paper waste that can be sold. Unfortunately, if this waste is covered with stale food, rotting fruit etc, they will not be able to collect them. They are part of our society and it is also our responsibility to make sure that we treat all humans with dignity.
Objectives:
Collect the following waste generated in our homes :rn- plastic covers, like cheese wrappings, milk packets, any plastic wrapping on bottles, food stuff etc.rn- plastic bottles and containers, plastic traysrn- old newspapersrn- glass bottlesrn- screw capsrn- cartonsrn- cardboard boxes, crushed paper, old calendarsrn- old clothrn- etc.
Milestones:
- to be able to geenrate responsibility in each home about management of our wastesrn- involvement of each family in caring for their surroundingsrn- to make sure that ragpickers do not have to sort through garbage for waste that can be collected individually, in a dignified manner from each home.
