UPDATE - May 12th - THIS PROJECT PROPOSAL HAS BEEN APPROVED AND WILL COMMENCE IN MID JUNE.
This is a project developed by Russell Hayes, a 3rd year Information Technology undergraduate at Rochester Institute of Technology. With the help of the local non-profit organization, Literacy Volunteers of Rochester, a computer literacy curriculum and instructional materials will be developed to help address the needs of adults wanting to learn basic computer skills. The current scope of the project has been limited to the most basic of skills, but may be expanded if more interest is expressed by volunteers.
Objectives:
To provide computer literacy education to the public and raise I.T. awareness in society.
Needs:
Assistance will be needed with the following:
-designing and creating a website for the project
-researching currently available curriculums and teaching models
-designing assesments for determining user skill level
-designing an effective user interface for software
-in-class tutoring
-coordination and other administrative tasks
