Description:
Global warming is a huge issue in our world today. I have been learning about global warming in class, and it really shocked me when we talked about what is happening to our planet. My friend Dané and I have started our project, "Education For Change" to teach grade 5 students about the harmful effects of global warming, and to teach them how to be eco-friendly. We will soon be going to all of the elementary schools in our community to educate the students. We both think that if we teach them about it when they are young, they will want to create change and become great social innovators. Our stakeholders included in this project include the grade 5 students we will be teaching, the parents and teachers of the students, and future SWBA classmates who can later add on to our project and make it even better.

Background:
The purpose of this project is to educate grade 5 students about global warming, and make them more aware of what is happening to our planet. We want to motivate kids at a young age, so they will be inspired to make a change. By doing so, we hope to make many children more aware and help them discover how they can help and make change.

Objectives:
Our objective is to educate all grade 5 students in all the elementary schools in our community by June 2012 (which is the end of the semester). The curriculum Dané and I are creating will be made so that students can learn from it easily, and teachers can teach from.

Milestones:
The first step of our project is to create a presentation that is appropriate for a grade 5 learning level. We have completed our presentation, and the next action we will be taking is going to the elementary schools and presenting. After that, we will be handing down our project to next years SWBA students, to present to next years grade 5 students, which they will hand down to the students the year after that, and so on and so forth.

Budget:
Our budget is not very high, since we need no fundraising to complete our project. Our friend's dad owns an office company and will be donating $20 worth of photocoping. This will allow us to copy quizzes and worksheets for the students to complete. Our other friend Morgan works at a candy store, and will be donating candy as a prize for the students when they complete the quizzes or win games we will play.

Needs:
All we will need to complete our project is the support from teachers and students!
