2004 Gandhi-King Season
The Gandhi-King Season web site has been undergoing major development in the last couple of weeks, in preparation for a substantially enlarged program of outreach for the upcoming 2004 Gandhi-King Season.
With the theme of Compassionate Activism for Global Healing, the 2004 Season offers an exceptional opportunity to serve as a catalyst and framework for a broad-based mobilization of compassion and activism at a critical time in global history.

Opening Day!
I have been so busy in the week since I last wrote a series of progress reports - a gap that reflecte the previous report - in that the focus of the project had shifted away from describing and defining the project to developing and implementing it - with much energy having gone into database development in the course of moving the small SNV database of the daily messages into the larger DIGITAL database, and the refinement of the structure of the message file, the creation of a related file / panel for quotations, the compilation - often through unexpected online discoveries - of quotations, and the regrouping and revised selection and organization of the themes for the 9+ weeks - selecting quotes, editing the text of messages, etc.
The opening was a great success - Conference Room 4 was full - probably 900 people, excellent presentations, wonderful responses - and the later event on the United Nations as an Instrument of Nonviolence was great too - with good attendance and many interesting reports, insights, observations and exchanges.

A Note on Methodology
It may be helpful if I were to share some additional details of the information processing engine that is being developed. The project tends to vary in fluid ways between phases of information gathering; entering information; organizing and classifying information and disseminating informtion and making it available - e.g. facilitating the exchange of informaiton, sending out email, generating sets of web pages based on the information that has been compiled.
Over the past few days, my focus has more been on gathering relevant links - both on this site, on http://habitat.igc.org/gksnv, and on the [gksnv-discuss] site - with the latter offering advantages in opportunities to organize and sort documents in a clear and comprehensible structure.
Ideally the project will reach a stage that integrates the features of the three sites with the powers and properties of the digital engine database.

Sending Out Invitations
I have spent a lot of time over the past day or two in revising, modifying, formatting, etc "final" versions of invitations for the two major opening events for the Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence - added to the document list below.
This has been followed by sending out the invitation to a dozen or more electronic mailing lists - with additional emailing still to come later today.

I haven't posted any progress reports in the past couple of days - in large part because there has been so much progress and I haven't found time to focus on the progress reports [^_^]
A revised icon for the site now has a text element - Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence - Ahimsa: Opening to an Inner Light
