•There is low realization of profit that can be obtained through practicing modern faming through application of modern technologies among horticultural crops farmers in the demarcated areas
•Farmers are still lagging behind on successful can utilize private partnerships to improve their capital
•The experience has shown the improper use some inputs such as insecticides that may be of detrimental effect to our environment as well as our health
•There is incomplete linkage between farming community with research centre that make it difficult for farmers to prompt access and utilize research findings to boost up their production
•The potential and arable land for farming which is largely under utilized in parts of the country including the sited area
•No strengthened empowerment and establishment of vertical and horizontal linkages of small holders farmers to identify their strength and weaknesses in order to successfully be able to make rational choices in complete chain of production;
•The bumper is always get lost due to poor storage facilities and techniques available
•There is number market available for various agro produce both in and outside the country that meet standard i.e. Quality
•Consumers preferences are constantly changing which is inversely proportional to what the majority of farmers know
•Majority of rural people do not consider agriculture as business as other business and therefore low effort to revitalize it
•The challenge remains to educate farmers as well as sensitize them upon the benefits that can accrued from farming activities in line with environmental conservation for sustainable development
•Enabling environment as a starter- up will be of beneficial to many farmers. We have a thought that when farmers get empowered can make a difference and make enormous change that significantly will reduce poverty
•The government policy is in favors of partnerships enterprises including farming. We see ourselves as this is the right time to educate our farmers the benefits they can realize from such partnerships
•‘Information is power’ we need to assist our farmers to get reliable and practical information that will assist to improve their farming activities and hence their livelihood
Objectives:
•To train farmers on better agricultural practices eg better use of insecticides and fertilizers
•Soil and water conservation practices in order to avoid soil degradation
•Training in Empowerment and Participatory in decision making that will influence sustainable capacity building among farmers
•To train agriculture workers on better ways to get and make access to farmers new agriculture findings that will improve productivity and profit from farming occupation
•Training on the importance of Market and marketing information to farming communities
•Training on importance of partnerships in farming activities
Budget:
The project costs estimates from take-off are 40 million. We therefore requesting a total of 30,000,000/=. The 10 percent remains will be covered by the organization membership fee plus human and resource contribution from farmers.
