The Global Students Union Universal Declaration of Student Rights strives to create an international declaration of basic rights for primary and secondary students in order to promote equality in education.
Background:
19 students from 6 countries met together at the International Baccalaureate World Student Conference of 2010 and decided to create the Universal Declaration of Student Rights CAS Project.
Objectives:
-Create an international declaration of rights to ensure equality in education.
-Spread and increase awareness on education issues to the nations of the world.
Milestones:
1. Establishing Research Committee
2. Writing first draft of the declaration
3. Writing final draft of the declaration
4. Having the founding IB schools (18 schools, 6 countries) to adopt the declaration
5. Have a school district adopt the declaration.
6. Establish the Global Students Union as a 501(c)(3) organization.
7. Have the International Baccalaureate Organization adopt the declaration.
8. Have one school in all continents (excluding Antarctica) adopt the declaration.
9. Further expansion to other countries and hierarchies in the education systems.
10. Have the United Nations draft and adopt the declaration in a resolution.
