Naughty, Naughty. Haven't posted an update for ages, but most people have known what is going on (I hope). July was the holiday month, as anticipated, so not as much got done as we would have liked. Contiuned to talk with youth sector contacts in Victoria, got a 30 minute gig on Radio 3AK in Melbourne to talk ipisi up, and we've had solid continued interest... which is nice, but we're still batlling our way through other committments to make everything happen. Marcus is almost done with creating a usable backend to the site, which will mean that the log of stuff sitting on my hard drive can go up. So, the expectation is that the next two weeks will be slow, after which time we hope to start making ground again ... at which point I'll keep everyone posted.
Cheers

I hope that mid-year assessment went well for everyone and we all came out without too much emotional scarring!
The past four weeks have been a little quiet as everyone has been studying, but we've continued to network in Melbourne. The partnership with vibewire.net is now in the initial stages of planning as we look to work, in the longer-term towards an integrated online resource for youth participation in Australia (without duplicating TIG). Anyone with comments or queries on this... please email me simon@ipisimag.grokspot.com
Marcus and his team of web people are busily working away at creating a more user-friendly backend for the ipisi site at the moment; one that should allow for far quicker and smoother content addition. Keep up the good work Marcus & team!
Interesting conversations over the past few weeks have included Youth Affairs Council of Victoria, VCEnet, vibewire, Student Ambassador Leadership Program, Roger Holdsworth and Linnergy/Boroondara Foundation. For more details on any of them, let me know.
Finally, working paper recommendations will close next Friday (July 4). Make sure to et your two cents in beforehand!
Cheers

Where have the last two weeks gone?
Working paper on vision and implementation can be downloaded below. Feedback is craved.
Networking is progressing slowly, hopefully we'll have established some more meaningful dialog in about a month of so that I can tell everyone about.
Apart from that, it all continues as before - the website evolves, people give feedback, we do some thinking, we do some tinkering and look to the future

Well, the pilot's been out two weeks and we still haven't got around to formally releasing it. Which, believe it or not, isn't a bad thing. Over the past two weeks we've been flooded with interest, and have thus had our hands full getting the website and print copies out to them.
As matters stand now, we're looking at tying up a few ends on the website in the next week, after which we'll push for a release to all the groups and networks we know, allowing three weeks for feedback and comment. During this time we'll be negotiating for the future focus of the zine with potential partners, and getting the website as active as possible. We'll also be putting the call out for people to join our advisory boards to help us make decisions about our future.
In terms of the zine in itself, the feedback has generally been positive and constructive. All in all, for a first attempt we're satisfied, but still working hard as there is SO much more that can be done.
To sum up,
- New positions are up at http://ipisimag.grokspot.com/involve.html
- Distribution is fragmented but moving, hoping to correct in next few weeks
- website is evolving, lots to go
- continued negotiations with possible partner organisations

Pilot edition ready ... download it below
It's at the printers as we speak,. being picked up on Wed morning, not a bad effort seeing the computers crashed last night, and we had to spend this morning piecing the final touches back together.
The website version will be going up overt the next few days, but patience is a virtue as the server is being upgraded ;-)
Lots more coming out over the next few weeks, it's a building period. But, for now, I might catch up on some of the uni work i've been ignoring!
Cheers
