JEOEMACO UMBRELLA is the joint effort on environment management and conservation,in Bungokho sub county.
It is a community initiative whose humanitarian efforts is to cooperate for climate change and also promote environmental beauty through planting of trees,promoting and encouraging effective re-afforestation and generally to conserve nature in this area and all over Uganda
Background:
Cooperating for action on climate change,Adaptation to climate change is important to reduce valuer ability in short and long run it involves costs but produces social and economic benefits especially if the a medium to long term perspective is adopted in Bungokho sub county.
JEOEMACO UMBRELLA is the community initiative which was started 2 years back.The umbrella found out that addressing climate change can help address the economic cries in the developing countries like Uganda otherwise the "EXPERTS have that Africa might bear the most blunt of Global warming as the a result of climate change.
In the light of global challenge from effects of climate change,the umbrella is taking measures to inculcate the culture of Tree planting as the an affordable measure in this community as away of preserving the environment.
Climate change is becoming a day to day concern for Uganda as well.The late start of the rain seasons,floods in some parts of the country and the recent madslid3es in Bududa all justify why it it more important than ever to in Bungokho sub county's effort to mitigate it's effects.
A agriculture is the major contributor to the country's national economy, yet climate change has significantly affected this sector.Crops are directly affected by temperature and rainfall patterns,drought,floods and storms.They are also affected by soil and shifts in seasons and the agro-climate zones.Climate change is also expected to have devastating effects on livestock,and the fisheries sector.
Uganda's temperature is projected to rise by 1.5 degrees in the next 20years,which means it's impact will be felt in the most peoples' lives time.According to the environmental experts this will lead to disasters ranging from severe storms,floods,prolonged drought and increase in diseases and the pests. It will particularly hit agriculture which makes up the livelihood of 75% of the population.Equally worrying is that Uganda's population grows by 3.3%per year while annual production only grows by 1.5% as the result food prices will continue to go up and the poor will continue to suffer.Already about 40% of the deaths among the Ugandan children are due to malnutrition.
To reverse this Environment EXPERTS advise that Uganda needs to take environmental regulations much more serious.It needs to act more tougher on illegal timber loggers and encroachments and vigorously enforce TREE PLANTING just as the JEOEMACO UMBRELLA is doing in Bungkho sub county Mbale district.
Both the government and Donors should also give incentives to organizations like JEOEMACO UMBRELLA for more research and development of affordable clean projects such as solar power,cheap fireless cookers.
To nip the climate change in the bud,the umbrella is intensifying campaigns on the environmental preservation through tree planting.With this landslides and heavy rains which are likely to become common and more disastrous in the area the umbrella calls for more tree planting.
To ensure that Trees and forests in Uganda and in Bungokho sub county in particular are sustainably utilised the umbrella is hoping to co-operate with National Forest Authority in implementing trees management plans to guide planting and harvesting of the mature trees.

METHODOLOGY:

Acquiring of seedlings.
Mobilization of the communities.
Strong organization and team work amongst the implementers.
Carrying out workshops.
Acquiring alternative fuel resources eg fire less cookers,solar energy.
GOAL 2:
To conserve and restore the environmental beauty.

To protect the wateR sources.
To curb soil erosion.
To promote proper use of biodegradable materials.
METHODOLOGY:
Acquiring of land.
Acquiring of seedlings.

Strong organization and team work amongst the implementers.
Carrying out workshops.
Acquiring alternative fuel resources eg fire less cookers,solar energy.
Use of affordable resource which is cost effective to facilitate transfer of knowledge and skills.
Acquiring safety measures for biodegradable materials.
Adopting modern farming methods.
BROAD OBJECTIVES:
To set up a research center.
To become a global organization.
To give out free tree seedlings to the communities in Uganda.
To set up school.
