Journal: Trip to Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.
On October 23rd I went to Rhode Island with only 2,500 USD , I got there by plane with U.S Airways. My ticket was 738 USD and it was a roundtrip, my flight back to Mexico was scheduled for October 28th at 10:35 am.
I got to the Distrito Federal Int. Airport at 1 pm because my flight took off at 3:40 pm.
My flight made connection with Las Vegas’ Int. Airport and with Philadelphia’s Int. Airport. I got to Rhode Island at 8:44 am on October 24th.
Day 2 in RI (Arrival, hotel, etc..)
I made reservations at the Christopher Dodge House hotel, so I took a taxi for $8. I got my room at 12 pm. My room had king size bed, chimney (wood included), woodstove, small fridge with drinks included, TV, etc… My reservation also included breakfast from 6 am to 12 pm and bar service. The hotel was 584 USD for 4 nights and 5 days.
I spent some time in my room watching T.V. when I saw and ad for a rental car company, so I decided to rent one. I got to to the lobby and then to where the valet guy is, I asked for a taxi and I got to the car rental site for only $6. I rented a VW Jetta for $200 and I was to give it up on Oct 27th at 6 pm.
With my car I went to the Beneficent Congregational Church, I made a 1 hr trip there, I got there about 5 pm, so I decided I had to eat something, so I drove around the place for a little while until I found a guy selling some hot dogs, I bought 2 for $15, I found a little park so I stayed there eating my hot dogs. When it was like 5:40 pm I drove back to the hotel, and got there at about 7 pm.
The valet guy told me that it was nice to take a walk to Providence’s downtown at night so after watching some T.V I went to downtown Providence.
I went back to the hotel at about 9 pm, and after a busy day I decided to sleep.
Day 3 in RI
I woke up at 10 am, I took a shower and ate my breakfast. I decided to watch some more T.V and at about 1 pm I decided to visit some place.
The valet guy told me there was a place with a “Venetian gondola experience”, but that reservations were needed, so I got back to my room and made a reservation for 5 pm. So I took a nap and at about 3 pm I got out form the hotel to eat. I stopped at a McDonalds and ate a BigMac for $3. Then I made my way to the Venetian Gondola Experience, the trip was $50 and it was about 2hrs long.
I got back to the hotel at 8 pm. I went to the bar and had some drinks with the people there. After some time talking and drinking I decided it was time for me to sleep.
Day 4 in RI
I woke up at 11 am and because breakfast ends at 12 pm I decided to eat first and then shower.
After my bathe I went to visit the valet guy to ask for some nice touring spots. He told me there were some galleries near downtown. So I asked for my car and went downtown and when I got there I asked for directions to art galleries, I visited the Gallery Z, the entrance was $5. It was a nice experience, and it was a big place.
I got back to the hotel at about 6 pm, I was really hungry so I drove to find some place to eat.
I ate at Bowen’s Wine Bar and Grille for $80.
I got back to the hotel at 8 pm, and again stayed at the bar for the night until it was about 11 pm and decided to sleep.
Day 5 in RI
I woke up at about 6 am so I decided that this day I would go fishing, so I ate my breakfast and bathe really quick. I got the valet guy and asked for a place to fish. He told me about a creek that was about 3 hrs form the hotel, he told me where it was so I drove there. I got there at about 10 am. And spent about 3 hours fishing, I only fish 4 fishies!
I was so disappointed so I decided to get back to the hotel, but I got hungry in the way there and I was also running out of gas, so I stopped at a gas station in the road and spent $15 in gas, fortunately there was a little restaurant and ate some pizza for $8.
I got back to the hotel at 6 pm. It was getting late, and the sun was hiding, and with the great experience I had walking in downtown Providence I decided to do it again.
I walked around downtown for some time and got back to the hotel at 9 pm, I was really tired, so as soon as I got to my room I fell asleep.
Day 6 in RI
I woke up kinda early, at 8 am. Since this was my last day I decided to enjoy my bathe, my breakfast, and also to visit some museum and get myself a nice souvenir.
I finished eating and bathing at 12 pm. I went to the bar and have some drinks.
I went to the valet guy and asked for a nice museum to visit. He told me there was a house-museum. The house that belonged to former governor Henry Lippit. The place was at a 2 hr drive from the hotel and the entrance was $6. It was a nice experience. While driving back to the hotel I decided to get drunk at the bar. I stopped at a restaurant, Andino’s Restaurant: Arabic Food, I ate there for $90. Delicious food.
When I got to the hotel it was about 8 pm. I headed to the bar and had a lot of drinks, at about 10:30 pm I was really drunk so I got back to sleep.
Day 7 in RI
I woke up at 6 am. I took a quick bathe and breakfast because I forgot to give in my car yesterday.
As soon as I finished breakfast I headed to the rental place, I had to pay $50 extra for not giving it on time.
I got back to the hotel in taxi for $6. I packed my things and gave the room in. I asked for a taxi and got to the airport at 8 am. I stayed there till my flight took off. I made connection in Detroit and got back to Mexico at about 7:36 pm.
It was a nice experience!
