Description:
In Uganda, 1.8 million Orphans have lost one or both parents to due to HIV/AIDS.rnAbout 100,000 children under the age of 15 are living with HIV/AIDS.rnrnAIDS is the 6th leading cause of death for persons between 15-25 years of age. By 2010, one of every four children in Uganda will be Orphans.\\r\\n\\r\\nDeath due to HIV/AIDS is 80,000 people annually. rn135,000 Ugandans get infected every year.rnrnInfected children are some stigmatized, discriminated against, marginalized and abandoned. rnHIV/AIDS Orphans Empowerment Through Education project aims at increasing the Literacy level of these Orphans from 41.4 to 78 percent of ages between 3-6 through teaching and they are 64 in number. Some of the subjects which are being taught are basic English, Mathematics Physical Education, writing, reading of the alphabetic, writing , drawings and shading , some music , dance and drama, sports and poems which interests young children. This is done with the help and support of Volunteers from abroad and within Uganda.

Background:
Uganda seems to have a stable plan for Education For All ( EFA )and its plan endorsed by Fast Truck Initiative ( F T I ) and is good and ambitious for the 2015 EFA goals, there is little hope of making real progress if the wage bill caps ( Staff Ceiling ) is not adjusted.rnrnUganda has absorbed several children into school and many are yet to join both the Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE). The number of UPE going children soared from 2 millions to 7 millions in only 2 years of its inception. However, the performance of some of these children is not good due to the fact that majority of these children do not acquire the relevant Childhood Education.rnrnGetting these children into school meant several things:-rnEither to increase facilities and employ more teachers or to raise the Teacher: Pupil ratio up to 1:110. This was needed and key important to invest in teachers .rnThe wage ceiling impacted negatively on the teacher: pupil ratio in primary and secondary schools .rnWage ceiling means no recruitment of teachers and yet the teachers are the most important in the Education process. rnBesides, evidence shows that about 28% of the youth are illiterate, and like in the general population, the female youths are more illiterate at 27% compared to the male youth at about 40%.Since the launch of the Universal primary Education [UPE] enrolment of children in school has greatly improved. rnrnLUYUDAAC -Uganda calls upon individuals volunteers, the youth, singles and couples Friends, good Samaritans and well wishers to come together and join hands in the implementation of the this project. rnrnYou can volunteer by teaching any of the above subjects, offer a piece of advise, and if you are blessed with issues regarding to organizational development we much welcome such issues .rnContacts:rnEmail: luyudaac@yahoo.com for inquiries.rnrnP.O. Box 437 Jinja ,Uganda.

Objectives:
To equip the HIV/AIDS Orphans with knowledge and skills for academic excellence and self reliance in the future.

Milestones:
We lack some teachers due to lack of funds to recruite hence calling for an upper hand of the Volunteers to assit us in teaching some of the subjects above.rnrnThe biggest challelnge is lack of an average shelter.rnThis is worsened when it come to a rainy season, lesions are disrupted.rnChildren need to be supported with a drink during the day in order for them to understant what they are taught.

Budget:
11,500 Us. Dollars

Needs:
1. Volunteers to teach subjects like:- English, Mathematics Physical Education, writing, reading of the alphabetic, writing , drawings and shading , some music , dance and drama, sports and poems which interests young children.\\r\\n2. Institutional development volunteers to offer guidance and training on issue pertaining to organizational management and development.\\r\\n\\r\\n3. Financial and material support in the construction of an Orphanage Education Center.
