Description:
The Muslim Social Club (MSC) was formed to address the social needs of young Muslims in British Columbia.
Background:
For most Muslims when it comes to choosing or joining an organization in their post-secondary years that provides a social setting to meet other Muslims or non-Muslims, the choices are limited. The Muslim Student Associations operating in Universities and Colleges are geared more towards providing religious services (Friday prayers, study circles) as opposed to social ones. Cultural clubs are marred by ethnic bias and more often do not fully adhere to Islamic customs and practices.
Objectives:
Our single unifying objective is to push towards creating a Canadian Muslim identity among young Muslims by providing social venues where Muslims can exchange ideas and opinions irrespective of their gender, cultural, and sectarian affiliations.
