VISION:

NUN' s vision is of a united community comprising of Resident, Non-resident Nepalese and well-wishers committed to participate and contribute in the development activities in Nepal and collectively care for Nepal.

MISSION:
NUN an international non-profit, web-based institution seeks to offer help in the development activities in Nepal. It aims to lay the groundwork for meaningful change by stimulating strategic thinking and focusing on activities that help bring awareness, enthusiasm and possibilities.
NUN is based on four core principles: knowledge sharing, innovation support, co-operation in mobilizing resources and communication for development.
Its operational team comprises of Hi Tech Team, Resource and Planning Team, Review and Control Team, Evaluation and Advisory Team, Public Relations Team, Events Organizing Team, Founder Members, Young Founder Members and Volunteers. It works in partnerships with Nepalese Community globally.

Rationale:

NRN's (Non-resident Nepalese) living in North America, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, Asia, South America, Africa, Middle East and Nepalese living in Nepal can muster their talents and resources via a dynamic website and bring positive changes in Nepal. The Website will be a 'One Stop Source' of intellectual writings/projects both in English and Nepalese on various fields. Nepalese Policy makers and the International Development Community could use NUN's resources. Nepalese United for Nepal will initially have 6 chapters, North America Chapter, Nepal Chapter, Australia Chapter, Europe Chapter, New Zealand Chapter and Asia Chapter, that will be implemented in different phases. *More Chapters will be added if people from different parts of the world take initiative to join NUN.
In short, NUN will motivate Non Resident and Resident Nepalese to collectively care for Nepal.


IDENTITY:
NUN is an online version of Non-resident Nepalese (NRN's) efforts with the following characteristics:


Objectives:
1. Goal:

Bring sustainable socio-economic changes in Nepal by influencing relevant policies and providing support and resources for developmental activities.

2. Purpose:(EOPI/OPI - stimulate strategic thinking and activities that help bring awareness, enthusiasm and possibilities)

- To provide a central clearing house mechanism, where one stop information on Nepal is available, facilitating linkages to all-important web site related to development in Nepal.
- To provide massive and good quality information, articles, data and access to financial mechanisms for Nepalese development that could provide intellectual insight to Nepalese Policy Framers
- To encourage and promote actual development action on Nepal by NRN's in collaboration with the domestic and international partners
- To link willing NRN's to Nepalese in Nepal who want to study and work abroad and develop internship and volunteer programs in Nepal for young NRN's
- To enable NRNs and Nepalese Citizens to participate and interact with each other and lobby on common issues
- To publish Online Nepalese Who's Who each year and e-books on development in Nepal
- To create platforms to launch individual / group development projects in Nepal

Phase I - NUN’s website with North America and Nepal Chapter (NANC), (TOR - www.nepaleseunited.org launched by 06/2004, 15 articles posted and 1 field project launched) Goal - increase visibility and purpose of NUN in North America and Nepal
- A dynamic website in Nepalese and English (www. nepaleseunited.org), Chat Room, Message Board, E-Fundraising, Search, On-line member registration
- Password protected pages for member's info, Who's Who publication in North America and Nepal, Web based space to launch individual/group development/business field based projects in Nepal

Phase II - Australian Chapter (AUC) will be added to main website
Goal - increase visibility and purpose of NUN in Australia

Phase III - European Chapter (EC) will be added to main website
Goal - increase visibility and purpose of NUN in Europe

Phase IV - New Zealand Chapter (NZC) will be added to main website
Goal - increase visibility and purpose of NUN in New Zealand

Phase V - Asia Chapter (AC) will be added to main website
Goal - increase visibility and purpose of NUN in Asia

Additional Phases - Other chapters will be added to the main web site, as per the initiatives of people from different parts of the world


4. Activities:

For Phase I
- Register the Organization in North America
- Brainstorm all legal aspects that can come into play
- Find Funds for development of the website, Maintain, Update (income generation...? will affect mission statement)
- At lease one article posted by each founder member/Operational Team (optional) at the launch of the website
- Web site promotion in Nepal and North America
- Develop collaboration with Nepalese Community Organizations/Businesses operating in North America and Nepal
- Network with interested NRNs in North America and Residents in Nepal and encourage them to write
- Invite NRNs to launch individual/group development/business projects in Nepal
- Activities of the seven programs/teams

Phase II (Same activities as Phase I in Australia)
- Promote website in Australia and recruit members
- Motivates NRN in Australia to write
- Develop collaboration with Nepalese community organizations/Businesses operating in Australia

For Phase III (Same activities as Phase I in Europe)
- Promote website in Europe and recruit members
- Motivates NRN in Europe to write
- Develop collaboration with Nepalese community organizations/Businesses operating in Europe

Phase IV (Same activities as Phase I in New Zealand)
- Promote website in New Zealand and recruit members
- Motivates NRN in New Zealand to write
- Develop collaboration with Nepalese community organizations/Businesses operating in New Zealand

Phase V (Same activities as Phase I in Asia)
- Promote website in Asia and recruit members
- Motivates NRN in Asia to write
- Develop collaboration with Nepalese community organizations/Businesses operating in Asia

Additional Phases
- Activities will be added as per the initiatives of people from different parts of the world.

Goal: To design, develop, maintain and update an appropriate website suitable for global operation

1. To increase collaboration of high end web designers and developers will to volunteer

2. Resource and Planning Team

Goal: To acquire and manage stable, broad-based financial and non-financial resources and provide strategic direction

Program: Develop Grant Proposals and Seek Private Funding

Outcome Objectives:

1. To increase funding from International Development Agencies
2. To increase donations in cash or kind such as printing, equipment, educational brochures and annual report
3. To increase private flow of money to maintain, upgrade and sustain the website and programs
4. To increase efficiency of Financial system in place

Goal: To maximize the visibility of NUN and make sure that NUN is properly recognized for its achievement and closely identified as an organization comprising of Resident, Non-resident Nepalese and well-wishers committed to participate and contribute in the development activities in Nepal

Program: Networking and Collaboration

Outcome Objectives:
1. To increase public awareness of NUN in the community through increased personal and media coverage
2. To improve awareness among NUNs operational team with regards to public opinion

Process Objectives (Activities):
1. To support the development of regular meetings in order to share information, increase advocacy efforts and maximize networking
2. To investigate forming or expanding partnerships
3. To develop and distribute a newsletter on a regular basis
4. To update print materials and make sure they are available in English and Nepalese

4. Review and Control Team

Goal: To ensure programs meet the requirement to accomplish NUNs mission and no one joins with a motive detrimental to NUNs Vision

Program: Quality and Academic control

Outcome Objectives:
1. To increase quality Articles/Writings on the website
2. To improve diversification of portfolios and projects
3. To improve the planning process if necessary

Process Objectives (Activities):
1. To review articles
2. To check articles for validity and authenticity
3. To establish criteria for evaluation of writings
4. To evaluate peoples motives in joining NUN

5. Evaluation and Advisory Team

Goal: To provide insight to the organization and to liaise with Nepalese policy makers

Program: Building Relationship for Policy Level Changes in Nepal

Outcome Objectives:
1. To increase NUN’s recognition at policy level 2. To improve evaluation process to assess program results
3. To improve the planning process if necessary

1. Assess needs in development activities in Nepal
2. Provide leverage to the organization
3. To develop network with Nepalese Policy Makers

Goal: To arrange efficient and cost-effective conventions and events in respective chapter countries
