Description:
The Nigeria Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the United Nations system by learning about the UN systems and operations of the General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. NMUN team members have fun learning about the working of world dipomacy through the periscope of current events around the world.
Background:
The idea of simulating international bodies began before the birth of the UN when students held series of Model League of Nations in the 1920s. Thus the model UN program is a successor to a student directed simulation of what preceeded the UN itself but it is not documented how the model UN began.
Objectives:
1. Involve young people in world diplomacy
2. Further facilitate the objectives of the implementation of the MDGs
3. Increase the capacity of students to engage in problem solving.
4. Recruiting a generation of world-class young diplomats
5. Creates the opportunity to meet new people and make new friend.
Milestones:
1. Establishment of a National Working Group (WG)
2. Establishment of LASU-MUN
3. Establishment of partnership with 10 national youth-led organizations
