the abilities to persuade, to organise information, to analyse
critically, to harness logic at it's most powerful.This is why the best and brightest of universities around the globe dedicate themselves to the art of debating.
Background:
From the neighbourhood barstool to the speaker's podium at the United Nations,
you get a lot further with the gift of the gab. We exist to give people
a chance to develop just that ; In competition with their peers at a
local, regional, national and international level. To this end, the
society practices the widest used, hottest debate format on the planet
- British Parliamentary style - as used annually at the World
Universities Debating Championships, the largest non-athletic student
event in the world.
Objectives:
Nigerian Universities Debating Championships is the largest university debating society in Nigeria. Dedicating ourselves to the ideal of reasoned argument as the most developed and neccessary means of social progress and improvement, we , along with the broader scope of other like minded orgsnisations and individuals will stand firm that we nurture within our ranks the leaders and thinkers of our generation.
