Description:
I am planning to launch million tree planting campaign in Nyanza province.The project is targetting schools, youth and the community at large. I will be organising tree planting events and competitions. The project is ongoing and we have already planted more than 26 000 trees. This project aim and reducing the rate of global warming by 10%.
We invite volunteers and other stakeholder to join hands with me.
This project will be luanched on 15 December 2008.
Background:
Recent climatic changes coupled with human activities such as irrigation, deforestation and diversion in the area leading to siltation of the river mouth, the inflow has been drastically reduced leading to a multiplied effect on both the ecology of the ecosystem and the socio-economy of the area. This province has been left behind while reafforestration is going on in other provinces. Tree cutting in this province has been the daily human source of income. Nobody has ever planted even one tree in this province. Forests are no more forest and their identities are not known.
Objectives:
The main objective of the project is to enhance the restoration of the Lakes, Rivers and forests ecosystem through various community interventions
