Status:

Timeline:
January 14 10 to December 14 11
Description:
The project is on peace building and conflict resolution. The project aims to engage and sensitize the society in Central Kenya on the importance of living in harmony and working together as Kenyans irrespective of their political affiliation, tribe, religion or background.\r\nWe hope to work closely with the Opinion leader, youth, women, men, squatters, people living with Hiv and Aids, people with disability, administration, donors, churches and the entire community for a united\r\nsociety.
Background:
Following what happened here in Kenya in 2007 after the declaration made on the contentious presidential winner of the flawed election process, the idea began in my mind on how Kenyans need to talk to each other instead of being told in order to clear the misconceptions and underlying issues that some tribes are more superior or favoured. The issue of land ownership, unemployment, ethnicity and region discrimination has to be tackled to help people realize that they are all kenyans despite their ethnic background. In this regard dialogue and forums will be held to sensitize and change the attitude of the Kenyans and start thinking positively and engage meaningfully.\r\nMission\r\nTo promote people-centred development approach by educating, mobilizing and involving all the stakeholders within Central Kenya in the planning, implementation and operation of the projects/programme aimed at poverty alleviation and co-existence of peace amongst tribes.\r\nVision\r\nUnited society free from poverty and hunger where kiini Sustainable Initiative will act as a catalyst for change resulting in togetherness thus a world free of tribalism.\r\nPurpose\r\nWe will stand or fall on our ability to collectively eradicate poverty, guarantee human rights and ensure an environmentally sustainable future.Freedom from want, freedom from fear and sustaining our future are all part of the same equation-Klaus Topfer once said so.We will go to the people, live among them, learn from them, love them, serve them, plan with them, start with what they know and build on what they have. This will be a full participation oriented process where everyone will feel valued and important
Objectives:
The main key for this project is to have a united and strong society.\r\nObjectives\r\nTo engage the entire community living in Central kenya and in particular youths on peace building issues and how they can play a third party role in solving conflicts as they are the majority and are leaders of today and tomorrow.\r\nTo strengthen the stakeholders influence abilities by giving insights on effective communication and encourage them to have an appropriate attitude and perception for positive community impact.\r\nTo equip over 1000 youth leaders with conflict and reconciliation skills by the end of 2011.\r\nMilestones\r\nWe hope to have a very strong team that has passion of serving the society, ready to go to the level of the community bearing in mind that the illiterate and invisible poor do exist and have right to be heard.Holding 24 forums in six districts targetting over 1200 people. At the end we will be having strong networks, able stakeholder reference group, good relation with the government and leaders,Enlightened society able to relate well and more involvement in community development.
