Our group strives to promote global awareness through the sharing of diverse food. We feel that through food we can connect and understand different cultures in order to prevent conflict.
Background:
Inspired by peace one day creator Jeremy Gilley, a group of ambitious IB students came together from around the world to promote peace. We found that food was one way to better understand each other's cultures and stand united.
Objectives:
Through a culturally rich variety of food from many countries, we hope to promote cultural understanding and unity through a shared meal. Our goal is to obtain mutual peace, hoping that many cultures breaking bread over a common table may bring about a more unified community. To achieve these ends we strive to host a community provided meal with many dishes originating from the diverse background of the participants. Additionally we will compile a toolkit for others to host their own global meals.
Milestones:
Our major milestones will be our first hosted meal followed by other potlucks hosted around the country. Another major milestone is the compilation of a toolkit for people to use.
Budget:
We hope to spend between $20 and $500 depending on what is donated.
Needs:
Food (preferably donated), space (venue), utensils, plates, tablecloths, decorations (cultural), and entertainment.
