The World Bank is revving up dgroups discussions, post-IMF/WB meeting, on how the WDR 07 can be applied in addressing national development strategies. This involves the youth who were either involved in the early e-discussion stages of drafting the WDR 07, or those who were in Singapore in Sept 06. I hope they will take due consideration of our inputs, and that the somewhat lagging Asia-Pacific strategy will get some life again. Special shoutout to our directors in Asia-Pacific - let's discuss some thoughts on the list - and I will bring the key issues to the (WB) moderators of the dgroups!

Getting ready for the 5th Asean People's Assembly (APA) in Manila, where I will be speaking on youth engagement in poverty reduction in SE Asia. I will mainly be putting across the proposal for the framework on SEA youth engagement in national development plans, which hopefully will be supported by the World Bank. The report of the APA will get submitted to the 12th Asean Summit in Cebu, so this is a great boost of credibility for our work.

[Robert/Tanzania 12 July] United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has set up a Youth Advisory Panel that will greatly influence thier upcoming Country Program of Action for Four years (2006 to 2009) and the Country Annual Action Plan for 2006/2007. This panel will also advise the fund on its policies and programs pertaining to young people. The YLD concept was instrumental in the set up of this panel; we were involved in the initial deliberations.
