Description:
The aim of the project is to instill a sense of peace building among rural inhabitants in selected districts in conflict prone areas in the country whilst assisting with teaching and learning activities in Junior High and Senior High Schools in the districts.
The project will focus on providing peace education in schools and within rural communities in the selected districts and also form “Peace Fellowships” in the schools whilst assisting with teaching of various subjects. The volunteers will also embark on rural peace education in the communities they reside through the use of Video shows, mass education etc
The project will utilize volunteers who are students and members of Peace fellowship Network (PFN)–KNUST. Each student will be expected to successfully participate in a two-days training program at the beginning of their volunteer program. This training program will provide peace education skills, leadership skills and conflict resolution skills. They will be equipped with effective youth and adult teaching methods to make their work effective.
The project will be implemented by African Centre for Peace Building (AFCOPB) with a solid project team instituted to directly oversee to the implementation. Partnership will be drawn from District Assemblies, Ghana Education Service, Security Agencies, Institutional Heads, Community leaders, Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organizations and the community inhabitants.
Periodic evaluation will be conducted to assess the impact of the project on:
1. Helping the students volunteers to become effective peace educators
2. Assisting in teaching activities in local schools
3. Forming a youth peace fellowships in various schools
4. Embarking on community based peace education

Objective 1.2: To embark on community peace education for inhabitants
Objective 1.3: To form Peace Fellowships in all educational institutions in the communities
Goal 2: To effectively use volunteers to assist improve teaching and learning in selected schools
Objective 2.1: To recruit a group of undergraduate students who are members of PFN-KNUST
to volunteer on the project.
Objective 2.2: To provide a two-week training program for volunteers on effective teaching
